As part of Meteo for Energy's strategy to promote new innovative solutions in the photovoltaic sector, the company has joined the GRETHA project along with other six Basque companies from the energy sector.

With funding of 4.9 million euros, GRETHA will develop technologies for the digital transformation of the new generation of photovoltaic plants and micro-grids over three years (2021-2023).

The project, supported by the Hazitek Programme of the Basque Government, seeks to optimise the maintenance of photovoltaic plants by reducing the levelised cost of energy (LCOE) and to improve the integrated management of photovoltaic power in the electricity distribution network.

In this framework, GRETHA's objective is to create technological solutions such as:

  • Sensors at PV module level;
  • Digital twins to facilitate the development of prognostics and predictive maintenance algorithms;
  • Hybrid microgrid generator models to enable predictive energy management;
  • Digital architectures for the use of hybrid models coupled with data governance;
  • New operation and maintenance services based on data intelligence.

GRETHA is a firm commitment to positioning the Basque industry in the energy sector, as it promotes research and collaboration between the seven companies involved in this initiative. The project proposals will be validated through practical cases in different scenarios: large photovoltaic plants, self-consumption facilities and micro-grids.
